37 years ago, while on a hiking expedition, I struggled to regain my
balance and, having failed that, fell thirty-plus feet into a rocky ditch.
Rushed to the emergency room, having underwent massive blood loss and severe trauma, the next six weeks were hit and miss; as my parents were lost in prayer and I, in a deep coma.
Think I have something to say about the healing touch and tender loving-care nurses bring to the job every day? You bet I do.
If anyone understands how nurturing and compassionate they are, it’s my family and me.
Is there a need for nurses? Without a doubt.
Is nursing a good career? For some, of course.
Does it break my heart to see people struggle in vain, trying to fit themselves into a nursing career, when they are clearly designed for something else? Absolutely.
If you find yourself wrestling with the demands of the profession and the longings of your heart and spirit, this could be the call for you.
Any occupation, no matter how worthy it sounds, or socially acceptable others think it may be, can not be called a “good job”, unless it is good for your spirit, your emotions, your relationships and your health.
For anything to bring you true meaning and fulfillment, it must nurture you from the inside out.
Learn about the call and join us in January.
