And, oftentimes she would catch herself doing what any mom would do in a similar situation; pushing aside and denying her own needs and desires, so she could focus the better half of her time and energy on taking care of everyone else.

On one side of the motherly coin, she realized she would always come up short in the toss; on the flip side, she understood that by taking the time to get in touch with who she really is, and to nurture and care for her body and spirit on the front end, those who matter the most to her, benefit.

She also realized that once she decided what she wanted to be when she grew up, the obvious obstacles turned out to be nothing more than mirages, and the limitations she thought she had, illusions.

Kathleen from Tennessee joins us back on the show and shares some of the more empowering observations she’s made during her own journey, and the adjustments she is making, as she moves confidently toward the work she loves.

Here are just a few points she touches on:

  • What we used think of as security, is not;
  • Big achievements often happen as a result of big challenges, not in spite of them;
  • Some of our best successes can come on the heels of our greatest failures.
  • Taking initiative pays big dividends

    I absolutely loved the story Kathleen told about when she found out someone else was doing what she wanted to do.

    I sent out an email to friends about my plans and asking to find some inspirational stories or testimonies of other women. I ended up with more responses than I expected and someone gave me a name of a specific person to contact.

    I was super excited when I found that someone has been doing something similar to what I am starting up next month and she has been doing it for four years….
    then I found out she is only an hour away!!!!

    Instead of saying “Oh great well I can’t do what I want to do because someone is already doing that”
    I said “Yes! a mentor, maybe a new friend, possibly a ministry partner, we can connect both of our groups for activities and pray for each other as faith sisters…..
    the possibilities are endless”

    I have since talked to her, she was just as excited to talk to me as I was to her and we are having our first meeting over dinner this month!

      Kim,
      Wow – that’s fantastic! It’s funny how the roadblocks don’t bother us so much once we really know where we’re going, isn’t it?
      Can’t wait to hear how your dinner with your new mentor goes!

        Kathleen,

        I met the woman of Mountain of Myrrh. Wow, Misty is a wonderful, strong, knowledgable, God fearing woman who has opened her home to many….
        She has poured her heart into these women she ministers to as well as their children.
        She had some awesome words of wisdom….
        I could go on and on. She points these women to God in a huge way.

        We will be keeping in contact and she wants to visit my group too.

        We are dreaming and praying over something for next Summer.
